Hangover II actress, Jamie Chung, was spotted hitting the Sundance scene in Utah last month. The cutie was even nice enough to sign some autographs and pose for the photogs while hanging out at the Puma Lounge after taking ski lessons at Park Mountain Resort. Of course, we didn’t miss the pretty multicolored sweater she wore underneath her ski gear that day. Here’s a look at Jamie and her sweater for you:

What a nice mix of colors, right? Yes, we’re talking about the sweater. The piece looks fresh and playful, which is good because most Fair Isle (or Fair Isle inspired) sweaters tend to look traditional and toned down.

Bar Refaeli Travels in Fair Isle Style

Bar Refaeli was spotted wrapping herself up in a Fair Isle looking topper while hopping from Paris to London last month. The Israeli model used the piece, a grey cardi with a patterned and draped front as well as decorative fringes at the hem, as her official travel staple. The sweater also looked quite familiar, though we couldn’t exactly place where and on whom we saw it. Here’s Bar for you, check out her sweater and tell us if you can ID it:

Fab Find: Affordable “Fair Isle” Jacket from Gojane!

We all know that authentic Fair Isle knits, whether they’re sweaters, socks, scarfs, or stoles, are very very expensive. When we say authentic, we mean Fair Isle knits created by experienced knitters from the tiny island of Fair Isle, which is located north of Scotland.

So you see, those sweaters created even by premium labels are merely Fair Isle “inspired” unless these brands actually contracted knitters from the island of Fair Isle to create those sweaters or knits. Of course, if you’re not a hard core Fair Isle fanatic, there’s no harm in buying something Fair Isle “inspired”, whether it’s from Dolce & Gabbana or an accessible brand like Gap. After all, the objective is simply to get the “look”.

So for the young crowd on a budget looking for that “look” minus the pricey tag, here’s a find you might be interested in – check out this GoJane Zip Up Hooded “Fair Isle” Jacket. It’s a knitted piece alright (100% acrylic), and even features reindeer patterns all over. Jennifer Garner in Autumn Cashmere

We found this photo of actress Jennifer Garner, a.k.a. Mrs. Afleck, yesterday and got curious with the sweater she had on in the picture. This was taken last November, while the mommy-to-be was spotted walking around Beverly Hills. Though she wrapped the ends of the sweater over her belly, you can tell the piece was designed to be worn open, much like a draped cardi:

Actually, on Jen is this Fair Isle Drape Cardigan from the brand, Autumn Cashmere. The knit is made of cashmere, wool, viscose, and polyamide mix so it’s pretty cozy to wear. However, what truly makes it unique are its details. For one, the pattern is very different – no snowflakes, no moose, no reindeers, but simple bow and bird-like shapes. And for another, little add-ons such as a string ribbon on the back yoke and contrasting ribbed bands on the cuff, hem, and lapel give it a fresh flavor:

It’s been a good month since our last post, pardon the absence. Oh, and Happy New Year! Today, we’re featuring gorgeous celeb Jessica Biel. The actress was spotted arriving at Heathrow early last month in a cute fur trimmed Fair Isle sweater with polka dots on it. She paired it with a tee, folded up skinnies, and ankle booties. The look was rather casual but the sweater did give a little extra:

The Free People Cropped Fair Isle Pullover: Who Wore It Best, Vanessa Hudgens or Ashley Tisdale?

It’s not our first time to see besties Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale wear the same sweater. We have spotted them in the same Fair Isle knit once before. Looks like the two really don’t mind being seen wearing the same thing because just last week, they did it again. Both wore a cropped Fair Isle pullover from Free People – Nessa wore hers while out and about in Burbank with her new boyfriend (December 3), and Ashley used her cozy topper while out shopping at Trader Joe’s (December 4):

So who do you think looks better in that sweater?

As you can see, Vanessa paired hers with over the knee boots and super short denim cutoffs. Ashley on the other hand, kept it really laid back and casual by using the knit over sweatpants and fur boots.

Our vote goes to Vanessa on this one, since she does look more “styled” in her outfit. But this goes without saying that Ashley, with her perfectly wavy blond hair and red sunnies, does look kind of cute. What do you think?

Fair Isle Knits: A Classic Cold Weather Staple

Fair Isle patterns were undoubtedly hot last winter. The Winter 2011 runways of name brands like Dolce & Gabbana, Rag & Bone, and Max Mara were enough to convey that message. But what about this coming cold season? Will Fair Isle knits still take center stage?

Well, the answer would probably be a ‘no’ and ‘yes’. No because the the trend now is geared more towards textured fisherman knits. However, it’s also a ‘yes’ because unique prints and patterns are also among the craze. And although this might be a broader scope, you could say Fair Isle knits are definitely included.

After all, it is one of the most ultimate in patterns. And besides, whether or not it is a trend, you can’t beat the fact that it’s a classic. Each year, it simply re-appears, with brands from high to low never failing to create a piece or two (or more!) as part of its merchandise offering.

Twenty8Twelve by S. Miller Sankie: Love or Hate?

Here’s a colorful Fair Isle inspired knit I found while browsing through Zappos today. I love the pops of bright yellow and orange on this one, and the neutral pattern (no snowflakes or reindeers!) really makes it wearable all year round, but I can’t seem to appreciate the silhouette, can you?

There’s something about the design that I don’t like. It doesn’t make the sweater look balanced. But I have to admit, the unconventional silhouette holds a certain appeal. I guess if the sleeves were scrunched all the way up to the elbows and the piece was worn open like a draped cardi, it could work.

Sweater of the Day: Kensie Cowl Neck Fair Isle Sweater

This sweater definitely deserves a whole post. I am loving it and I can’t wait to have it. It’s refreshingly modern and feminine and I think it can even work way past fall and winter. Meet the Kensie Cowl Neck Fair Isle Sweater. As the name specifies, this Fair Isle inspired piece features an oversized ribbed cowl neckline in contrasting white, the same finish applied to its cuffs and waistband. What I like about this sweater is the fit and the silhouette – loose, cropped, yet clean and refined; also, the large collar really gives it an elegant feel:

The classic and monochromatic colors (black & grey) used to create the patterns also make it quite a versatile sweater to have. In fact, I can already picture it working from casual to dressy; from jeans to trousers to pencil skirts and pumps! And although snowflakes are quite present on this knitted topper, I definitely wouldn’t mind wearing it on a cold spring night. And that’s not all, the fact that it retails at an affordable USD78 makes it extra desirable.
